AGN states

2nd SHIVA meeting

18-21 March 2024

Roccafiore Wine Resort & Spa, 06059 Todi, Umbria, Italy

Rationale of the meeting

Accretion of the black holes across the mass scale has been a central topic for establishing an informal SHIVA (Search for Holistic Interpretation of Variable Accretion) collaboration with its foundation in Prague in 2019. After turbulent, not travel-friendly years, it is a high time to meet and discuss the most recent progress in study accretion states of supermassive black holes in active galactic nuclei (AGN) and their similarities/differences from X-ray Binaries. The meeting is intended to have a small group of experts with plenty of time for discussion and exploration of various ideas. The main goal is to share the most recent advances and to set plans for collaborative work to progress in our understanding of AGN spectral states and potentially prepare a joint European (or national) research project.
